Carn Edward Longhorn Cattle

Longhorn cattle with their distinctive look and renowned for their unusual horns, are an ancient cattle who came close to extinction in the 1880's. Their history is linked to that of Robert Bakewell, livestock pioneer of the 1700's. Docile in nature and excellent mothers there were 2,500 pedigree females at the begining of this millenium.

The Carn Edward Herd of Longhorn cattle are traditionally reared on grass and home grown barley and oats. Along with the fact that Longhorns are a native breed to the United Kingdom and as such take longer to mature, the result is well matured, marbled and extremely flavoursome beef.
